For each hat bought one is given away to a kiwi in need.
Make Give Live run community based knitting groups around New Zealand. The groups meet either weekly or fortnightly in a cafe, a community hub, a library or a pub. As a Social Enterprise, they knit hats that they sell. For every hat that is sold one is donated to someone in need in New Zealand.
Being part of a Make Give Live group is like having a second family, they knit but the groups also nurture their own mental health and wellbeing. Looking after yourself is essential and it is a proven fact that knitting has a multitude of therapeutic benefits, including reducing stress, improving self confidence and helping provide meaningful connections and purpose, especially when you are part of a community.

There are currently two Make Give Live Taupo groups - one meets on a Tuesday 9.30am and the other Wednesday morning 9.30am.
(The evening winter group that usually meets Weds 7.30pm is on hold with due to Covid times)
