Resin Necklace - Large
The wood used in this piece is a by-product of my other product manufacturing and is sourced from homes demolished following the 2010-2011 Christchurch Earthquakes. New Zealand Rimu is a beautiful red and honey coloured wood, long prized as the superior building material in this part of the world.
The Rimu chips are embedded into Super-Sap bio-resin; an eco-friendly material with a certified 40% Bio-based content. This bio-resin is produced to help you reduce your carbon footprint.
Super Sap state that “by employing green chemistry techniques that require less energy and produce less harmful byproducts, we reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from production of our resins by 50% over conventional petroleum based epoxies. We replace petroleum based carbon with renewable plant-based carbon. The raw materials going into our resins are co-products or waste products of other industrially important processes. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. Using an international standard method of radio carbon dating, we verify the renewable content of the resins so you know exactly where they come from.”

The resin colour is translucent with a number of different options available, for example blue, sea-glass green, lime green, yellow, pink, orange and red.
**NOTE** as these pendants are made to order each one will be slightly different in terms of the wood size and shape, grain and texture. It is important that you understand that there will be some differences. In addition, the process of making these pendants results in some bubbles being present in the resin. This is normal and helps to make each piece individual and tell it’s own story.The resin can be translucent (see-through as pictured).
