Matcha isn’t just a trend - it’s a powerhouse superfood with deep roots in Japanese culture and a whole lot of health benefits. Whether you’re looking for a morning energy boost, a wellness ritual, or a new way to level up your lattes, matcha is where it’s at.

What Exactly Is Matcha?
Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder made from specially grown tea leaves. Unlike regular green tea (where you steep the leaves and discard them), with matcha, you consume the whole leaf, which means more antioxidants, more nutrients, and more benefits in every sip.

It’s known for its calm energy boost - thanks to the combo of caffeine and L-theanine, matcha provides focus and alertness without the jitters or crashes of coffee.

How to Use Matcha
Matcha isn’t just for lattes (although we do love a good iced matcha). This vibrant green powder is super versatile - here are some fun ways to use it:

1. Classic Matcha Latte
Whisk 1 tsp of matcha with hot water, then pour over your favourite steamed milk (oat, almond, or coconut are delicious choices). Sweeten with honey or dates if you like!

2. Matcha Smoothie
Blend matcha with avocado, your fav milk, spinach, dates and a spoon of honey for an energising green smoothie. 

3. Matcha Overnight Oats
Mix matcha into your overnight oats with chia seeds, your fav milk, and a touch of vanilla for a nutrient-packed breakfast.

4. Matcha Bliss Balls
Combine matcha, dates, almonds, coconut, and a dash of vanilla in a food processor, roll into balls, and refrigerate for a healthy snack on the go.

5. Matcha Pancakes
Add a teaspoon of matcha to your pancake mix for a green, antioxidant-rich twist on brunch.

Mindful Matcha

SMOOTHIE RECIPE
Here's the Smoothie recipe we tried and enjoyed >>

  • 1/4-1/2 cup of your fav milk (we used Oat)
  • 1 teaspoon Mindful Matcha powder 
  • 1 cup fresh baby spinach, packed
  • 1-2 pitted dates - for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon honey - for sweetness
  • 1/2 avo (or swap out for 1/2 banana) - for creaminess 
  • 1 tablespoon LSA+P (or swap out for chia seeds/protein powder)
  • 3 cubes ice
  • 3 strawberries, sliced
  • a few blueberries
  • pinch of shredded coconut
Notes

Just mix and match these ingredients, depending on what you have at home, and the taste and sweetness you like. 

LSA+P (linseeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seed) is full of natural plant-based goodness - protein, dietary fibre, and omega-3 and Chia seeds - are a great source of fibre, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and help to keep you feeling full. Plus you can always add a vanilla protein powder if you’d like.

Top with the berries and coconut. Delicious! 

We noticed an energy lift about an hour and a half after, which was great for the afternoon when you are feeling a little flat! Add it to your favourite FG Smoothie Cup and you're good to go!
